  • Abstract
The effect of heavy ions irradiation on the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy field, HA, of bubble garnet materials has been measured. The techniques of ferrimagnetic resonance (FMR) and stripe lattice resonance (SLR) were used in measuring changes in HAas a function of irradiation dosage levels, d. We find that the change in HAis directly proportional to d . λ/M, where λ is the saturated magnetostriction constant and M the magnetization of the garnet material. Thus, it is possible to tailor a garnet material precisely to a specific value of HAby irradiating it. This irradiation technique of changing HAshould be applicable to a large class of ferrites.
