Abstract
The effect of heavy ions irradiation on the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy field, HA , of bubble garnet materials has been measured. The techniques of ferrimagnetic resonance (FMR) and stripe lattice resonance (SLR) were used in measuring changes in HA as a function of irradiation dosage levels, d. We find that the change in HA is directly proportional to d . λ/M, where λ is the saturated magnetostriction constant and M the magnetization of the garnet material. Thus, it is possible to tailor a garnet material precisely to a specific value of HA by irradiating it. This irradiation technique of changing HA should be applicable to a large class of ferrites.
