Abstract :
Control of the power output of tokamak reactors is proposed through use of materials whose magnetic properties depend upon the operating temperature. By varying this temperature, such materials, when located between the plasma and the magnets that produce the confining fields, control the deviation from axisymmetry of the magnetic fields in the plasma and hence control the operating point of the device.
