Abstract :
A method for computing transient eddy currents induced by the movement of magnets without iron materials, such as superconducting magnets, is proposed. The formulation is based on a finite-difference method utilizing only the electric vector potential of the T-Ω method. Meshing is done only for the 2-D thin conducting sheet region, and the field of the magnet is considered through the integral equation of Biot-Savart´s law. The method is illustrated with reference to the eddy current and force analysis of a magnetically levitated vehicle
