Abstract :
The North American Electric Reliability Council Report, 1989 Reliability Assessment, summarized. Reliability in a bulk electric system is defined, and the need for reliability criteria is discussed. The consequences of inadequate reliability are examined. Some major electric system disturbances are described, the socioeconomic impacts of electric power supply interruptions are considered, and emergency operating procedures are discussed. Peak demand projections are given.<>
