Abstract :
A new type of supperlattice named CHIRP (coherent heterointerfaces for reflection and penetration) superlattice, in which the periodicity is gradually changed, is proposed. The electron transmissivity through the superlattice is modulated by the applied electric field. A possible application to a negative-resistance device is discussed.
