Abstract :
A new method for analysing the scattering of a plane wave by a perfectly conducting rectangular cylinder is described. The field expression is easily represented as a superposition of two solutions for the scattering by a conducting wedge. The numerical results are in full agreement with the well known integral solution. Computer time is very short compared with the conventional result. This analysis will be applicable to the rectangular cylinder which is much greater than a wavelength.
