Abstract :
Programs for 3-D field calculations are rare. Even more rare are program packages for this problem class. Here we briefly describe the package PADDY, which is primarily designed for static magnetic fields, but can also be used for static electric fields and heat distributions. It has a simple but powerful problem oriented language, that enables users without programming experience to define their problems, without much help from the package designers. Some aspects of the problem description and the mathematics are discussed; an example is shown comparing with measured data.
