Abstract
A novel two-step procedure involving the use of a finite-element method and a new demagnetization curve representation to model residual magnetic fields is presented. Its advantages include excellent convergence properties. The procedure is illustrated by analyzing residual leakage fields around defects in a ferromagnetic pipe. Experimental results confirming the validity of the approach are presented
