Abstract :
Since high coercive tapes are used for short wavelength recording, both heat dissipation and saturation of the magnetic circuit may cause problems in thin-film recording heads because of the required writing current. Experiments carried out to determine the optimum dimensions of our 64-channel single-turn heads will be described. It is concluded that these heads are suited for recording tapes having coercivities up to 80 kA/m (1000 Oe).
