Abstract :
A trial of a 1.3 ¿m, 340 Mbit/s submarine optical repeater was conducted in the laboratory. Stable performance for the repeater was confirmed and a bit error rate (BER) better than 10¿9 was achieved with 81 km of single-mode optical fibre.
