Abstract :
Crosscorrelation interferometry with below-threshold semiconductor lasers for measuring the first-order dispersion ß¿ near the minimum-dispersion wavelength ¿0 of monomode fibres is investigated experimentally and theoretically. A Gaussian approximation for the source spectrum is invalid, but a simple formula is found for a Lorentzian spectrum. Second-order dispersion distorts the measurements even up to 50 nm from ¿0.
