Abstract :
Surface current density on an array of mutually coupled conducting strips near a ground plane is investigated in the quasistatic limit using the method of images. The nonuniform current distribution caused by mutual coupling and its effects on magnetostatic static wave (MSW) device characteristics is investigated. A comparison is made with previously published results obtained under the assumption of uniform and other current distributions. Insertion loss curves are presented as are the self-inductances for gratings and meander line transducers. With a minor change in the formulation, the method developed herein also predicts circulating currents in gratings over a highly magnetic half-space for certain parameter combinations.
