Abstract :
A novel low-cost photoreceiver that combines an erbium-doped waveguide amplifier (EDWA) and a packaged short planar multimode waveguide PIN photodiode has demonstrated -21.2 dBm sensitivity at BER 10-10 and PRBS of 215-1 for 40 Gbit/s operations
