Abstract :
Rapid advances in the semiconductor industry have prompted the increased use of computer technology to produce better and "smarter" military systems. Rugged computer hardware, able to pass mil-spec testing, is needed and used to solve problems in a wide range of application areas including space exploration, research in severe environments, military communications systems, navigation systems, and weapons guidance systems.
