Abstract :
A new kind of InGaAsP/InP electro-optic directional coupler modulator/switch with double-hetero plano-convex waveguides, which is suitable for monolithic integrated optics, has been proposed and demonstrated. The fabricated devices have shown low optical loss (4 dB/cm) and high modulation bandwidth of 1 GHz at 1.3 ¿m wavelength.
