Abstract :
The oscillation frequency of single-frequency laser diodes was measured as a function of the phase of reflections from the near end of a microlensed single-mode fibre. Frequency shifts of up to 6 GHz were measured for phase changes of ¿ rad. The magnitude of the linewidth broadening factor x can be determined from the measured frequency shift.
