Abstract
An analysis is presented on the effects of magnetic saturation and coercivity on the harmonic content Of B-H loops. For both models used, the even power harmonies are absent, in agreement with experimental observation. It is shown that the third harmonic is least sensitive of all the harmonics to changes in the degree of saturation. This arises because the third harmonic predominently influences the knee region of the B-H loop as is demonstrated. Higher harmonics contribute predominantly to the shape of the approach to saturation. For small values the coercivity is proportional to the amplitude of the even order harmonic amplitudes. The amplitude of the first even order harmonic is particularly insensitive to variations in degree of saturation.
