Abstract
This paper explains the mechanisms that lead to a degradation of an OFDM signal because of the phase noise of the RF oscillators. An approach for easy calculation of SNR, independent of carrier numbers, will be given. This SNR approach uses a plot of the phase noise power density for the calculation. The theoretical results lead to an improved synthesizer concept. Values of SNR and BER will be given for the new synthesizer concept
