Abstract
Measurements are described in which the gains of standardhorns in the
and
bands were determined at a number of wavelengths. The two-antenna method was used. It is believed, after a detailed error analysis, that the gain is known within a limiting error of about 0.05 dB at each wavelength measured. A method is described for measuring the ohmic losses in the horn, So that the measured gains may be compared with theoretical estimates. Gain values calculated from the formula of Schelkunoff and Friis and corrected for ohmic losses agree within about 0.1 dB on the average with the measured gains.
