Abstract :
A new approach to the open-circuit method in broadband measurement is described. The special case of a transition from coaxial to circular waveguide, applied in heterogeneous dielectric solid material characterization by time domain spectroscopy (TDS), is discussed. This method is absolute in the sense that it does not require a relative reference in solid material measurements for system calibration. Some applications are given to verify the validation and the limits of the approach to this problem
