Abstract :
The relationship is examined between the peak values of the response of a system to a pseudorandom binary m-sequence input signal and the characteristic polynomial of the m-sequence. Consideration of the fourth moment of the amplitude distribution of the response leads to a means of classification of m-sequences in terms of the peak value of response.
