Abstract
A simple printed antenna that can be utilised for maritime satellite communications is presented. The antenna is based on a dual linearly polarised proximity coupled microstrip antenna on an extended hemispherical dielectric lens. The resulting small printed antenna is impedance matched over both the transmit (14.0-14.5 GHz) and receive (12.25-12.75 GHz) bands and has a gain of 21 and 20 dBi, respectively, over these frequency ranges.
