Abstract :
Nonlinear gain dynamics in semiconductor laser amplifiers enables ultrafast signal processing. Wavelength conversion of up to 18 Gbit/s data signals is demonstrated. The switching characteristics are applied to the operation of an AND gate for 30 ps pulses.
