Abstract
It is shown by device simulation that quantum well shaping by strategic delta -doping provides a new and flexible means of producing enhanced electroabsorption characteristics in normal transmission, asymmetric Fabry-Perot and waveguide optical modulators based on the quantum confined Stark effect.
