Abstract :
Two finite element methods for calculating power frequency 3-dimensional electromagnetic field distributions are described. The problem region is partitioned into parts which contain eddy currents and parts which do not, in such a way that the dividing surfaces are coincident with the conductor surfaces. Magnetic scalar potentials are then used to describe the field in non-conducting regions while either of the vector fields A or H is used in eddy regions. Simple 3-dimensional test results are presented.
