Abstract
The strategies developed by Hughes Aircraft Company to achieve diversity by increasing the number of women and minorities in their workforce are outlined. One was to establish employee networking organizations so that people with common interests could communicate with each other and with management, and management could communicate with them. A program of planned mentoring where experienced. Respected managers were matched with promising new employees and asked to counsel and guide them was set up. A third strategy was to expand the company´s efforts to ensure a steady flow of qualified prospective employees through the educational pipeline.<>
