ارزيابي شناخت، نگرش و توانايي دستياران تخصصي دانشكده دندانپزشكي مشهد در زمينه كاربرد آمار حياتي

Assessment of Cognition, Attitude, and Ability in the Application of Statistics and Epidemiology in the Postgraduate Dental Students at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Iran

مقدمه: براي استفاده از متون علمي و مطالب جديد به سطح مطلوبي از مهارت و تجربه در خواندن، ارزيابي، آناليز داده ها و تفسير يافته هاي مطالعات معتبر نياز مي باشد. اين مطالعه با هدف بررسي شناخت دانشجويان مقطع تخصصي دندانپزشكي در زمينه ارزيابي، آناليز داده ها و تفسير يافته هاي مطالعات مبتني بر شواهد انجام شد. مواد و روشها:اين مطالعه مقطعي، بر روي دستياران تخصصي دندانپزشكي شاغل به تحصيل در دانشگاه علوم پزشكي مشهدانجام شد. ابزار مطالعه پرسشنامه اي شامل چهارقسمت اطلاعات فردي شركت كنندگان، نگرش آنها نسبت به آمار، توانايي آنها در بكارگيري نتايج مقالات و بخش شناخت بود. داده ها با كمك نرم افزارSPSS و آزمون آماري تي مستقل در سطح معني داري 0/05 آناليز شدند. يافته ها:از كل 96 دستيار تخصصي دندانپزشكي، 62 نفر در مطالعه شركت كردند. 42 نفر (66/7 %) زن بودند. 14 نفر (22/6 %) در كارگاههاي روش تحقيق، آمار و اپيدميولوژي شركت كرده بودند. ميانگين نمره نگرش دانشجويان 9/2 4/20 از 30 نمره و ميانگين نمره توانايي 3/1± 8/4 از 20 بود. فراواني پاسخهاي صحيح، سوالات شناخت 36/4 درصد بود و ارتباطي بين شناخت دانشجويان در زمينه آمار با جنس و حضور در كارگاه آمار و روش تحقيق وجود نداشت. نتيجه گيري:سطح دانشجويان تخصصي دانشكده دندانپزشكي مشهد در زمينه شناخت روش و تفسير آناليزهاي آماري پايين بود؛ لذا به منظور بالا بردن سطح توانايي و شناخت دانشجويان در زمينه آمار، تغيير كوريكولوم درسي و بازنگري در روشهاي تدريس، پيشنهاد مي شود.

Introduction: Using scientific texts and new contents requires proper skills and experience in reading, evaluation, data analysis, and interpretation of valid findings. The present study aimed to assess the cognition of the postgraduate dental students, at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (Iran) in the evaluation, data analysis, and interpretation of the findings of evidence-based studies. Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on the postgraduate dental assistants at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Research instrument was a questionnaire consisting of four main sections, including the personal data of the participants, attitude toward statistics, ability to apply the results of studies, and cognition. Data analysis was performed in SPSS using independent t-test at the significance level of 0.05. Results: Out of 96 dental assistants, 62 cases were enrolled in the research. Among the participants, 42 cases (66.7%) were female, and 14 assistants (22.6%) had prior experience of participating in research, statistics, and epidemiology workshops. Mean score of attitude was 20.4±2.9 (out of 30), and the mean score of ability was 8.40±3.1 (out of 20). The frequency of correct answers to the items in the cognition section of the questionnaire was 36.4%, and no correlations were observed between the students' cognition, gender, and participation in statistics and research methodology workshops. Conclusion: According to the results, cognition and ability of the students in identifying statistical methods and interpreting statistical analysis were poor. Therefore, it is recommended that the educational curriculum and teaching methods be revised in order to enhance the knowledge and ability of the students in this regard
