چكيده فارسي :
براي توصيف شخصيت بي‌همتا و جامع‌الاطرافِ «سعدي» ـ اين سُتُرگ سخنور و بزرگ انديشمند ايران زمين ـ از ديرباز، القاب و اوصاف گوناگوني زبانزد پژوهشگران و شيفتگان آثار شيخ اجل بوده است، از آن جمله: «خداوندِ انديشه و سخن»، «يكي از سه پيامبر شعر فارسي»1، «شاعرِ ديروز، امروز و فردا»، «بزرگ‌ترين شاعر جهان»2، «افصح‌المتكلمين»، «شاعر جهاني»3، «شاعر اجتماعي»، «سعديِ نيك‌سرشت»4، «شاعر انسانيت» و بسياري عناوين ديگر. بي‌گمان، جملگي عنوان‌ها و تعبيرهاي ياد شده، به حق، شايسته و برازندۀ سعدي است، ولي در بين آنها، شايد عنوان «شاعر انسانيت» وصف حال گوياتر و مناسب‌تري براي اين شاعر «انسان‌گرا» باشد. در اين مقاله تلاش مي‌شود تا جلوه‌هاي فاخرِ انسان‌دوستي و نوع‌پروري اين سخنور بي‌بديل كه در ابيات مشهور وي به شرح زير تجلّي تام يافته است، توصيف شود.

To describe characteristics of the great unique poet, writer, and intellectual, Sa'di of Shiraz, who has been praised by many scholars and writers of the world have given him a variety of titles such as: “god of thought and word”, “one of the three profits of Farsi poetry”, “the poet of yesterday, today, and tomorrow”, “the greatest poet of the world”, “world poet”, “social poet”, “Poet of humanity”, and “Sa'di the benevolent” and many other titles which are well deserved. However maybe the title of “poet of humanity” is more appropriate and best description for this humane poet. The writer is aiming at describing these best traits of character in this greatest poet of all times.
