Methodology of History Narrative Description of the Past, Causal Explanation of Event

مطالعات تاريخي، همچون ديگر علوم داراي روشي است كه در دو سطح توصيف و تبيين قابل ارزيابي است. سطح توصيف، تصوير روايت محور گذشته است كه بر مبناي الگويي تجربه شده توسط متخصصان تاريخ در گذر زمان پيش مي رود (سطح كشف واقعيت) ؛ اما تبيين، پرداختن به علل و عوامل شكل گيري رويدادهاي گذشته است (سطح اكتشاف حقيقت) كه علي القاعده از طريق غير روايي بايد مورد توجه قرار گيرد. اينكه چنين تبييني در مطالعات تاريخي چه جايگاهي دارد، مسئله كانوني مقاله است كه به رغم پژوهش هاي صورت گرفته، همچنان نيازمند كاوش و مداقه است. پرسش اصلي اين نوشتار كه با هدف ارائه راهكاري براي درك بهتر گذشته شكل گرفته، چيستي تبيين تاريخي و چگونگي كاربست آن در مطالعات تاريخي است كه با اين فرضيه دنبال مي شود كه توصيف و گزارشگري، با فرض وجود تبيين مبتني بر ديدگاه قانون فراگير، حقايق گذشته را بر نموده و رازورمزهاي آنها را آشكار مي سازد. براي اثبات مدعا به روش عقلي با بهره گيري از فلسفه علم قدم بر مي دارد.

Historical studies, similar to other sciences, have explanatory and descriptive methodologies. In description, the narration itself is the main axiom for the past which is based on applied patterns by other historians through history (explores reality); however in explanation the reasons and causes behind each event will be analyzed (explores truth) which logically should be examined through a non-narrative approach. The main subject of the present paper is which explanation should be applied in historical a study which needs to be accurately assessed, despite all the other researches have been conducted on the subject. As introducing a solution in gaining a better understanding of the past is the main goal of the present paper, the key raised question is: What is historical explanation and how it must be applied in historical studies? The hypothesis of the article is: Assuming explanations based on covering-law model accompany description and reporting can reveal the truth of the past and its secrets. A logical method as well as philosophy of science will be applied in order to prove the above mentioned claim.
