در دهه‌ 1980، تركيه اصلاح ساختار اقتصادي داخلي خود را تحت تأثير جريان نوليبراليسم به‌عنوان رهيافت غالب در عرصه‌ سياست و اقتصاد جهاني درپيش‌گرفت و ارتقاي جايگاه خود را در عرصه‌ داخلي و بين‌المللي از اين طريق تعقيب‌كرد. پرسش مقاله حاضر، اين بود كه «نوسازي و اصلاحات نوليبرال چه تأثيرها و پيامدهايي در ساختار اقتصادي تركيه داشته و جايگاه دولت در اين روند چگونه قابل‌تحليل است؟»؛ يافته‌هاي پژوهش براساس روش توصيفي و تحليلي و برپايه مطالعه اسنادي عبارت‌شدند از اينكه نقش دولت توسعه‌خواه تركيه به‌ويژه از دوران اوزال به‌عنوان صحنه‌گردان اصلي اصلاحات، برمبناي سياست‌هاي نوليبرال و ادغام تركيه در اقتصاد جهاني بوده‌است و «خروج اقتصاد از رانت‌خواري و هدايت به سمت ساختارهاي سالم، ايجاد تغييرهاي كيفي در قانون اساسي به نفع تحولات اقتصادي، پيشروي به سمت يك‌پارچگي با اقتصاد جهاني، تعامل با غرب و بهره‌جويي از فرصت‌هاي جهاني‌شدن»، خط‌مشي‌هاي اصلي آن بوده كه تحولات اقتصادي برآمده از آنها با روي كارآمدن حزب عدالت و توسعه، تركيه را به جايگاهي والا رساند.
