Overview of the Evolution Process of Student Assessment Methods in Medical Education: Report of the Change Process in Iran based on the 8-Step Model

مقدمه: در عصر كنوني پيشرفت روزافزون فن‌آوري الكترونيكي، استفاده از تكنولوژي و ايجاد تغيير مطلوب در ارزيابي دانشجويان نقش برجسته‌اي دارد. اين مطالعه با هدف مروري بر فرآيند تحول روش‌هاي ارزيابي دانشجو در آموزش پزشكي و گزارش روند آن در ايران بر اساس مدل 8 مرحله‌اي در راستاي بسته ارتقاي نظام ارزيابي و آزمون‌هاي علوم پزشكي انجام شد. روش‌ها: در اين مطالعه‌ي مروري (Narrative) مقالات، كتب و پايان‌نامه‌هاي پايگاه‌هاي اطلاعاتي شاملSID، Magiran، Pubmed، Google scholar و Eric از سال1950ميلادي تاكنون با استفاده ازكليد واژه‌هاي ارزيابي، آزمون كامپيوتري، تحول، تغيير و آموزش پزشكي، به زبان‌هاي فارسي و انگليسي مورد جستجو و بررسي قرار گرفت. نتايج: از تعداد 76 مقاله در موضوع مورد نظر 28 مورد كاملاً مرتبط با هدف مطالعه، بررسي شد. تحول روش‌هاي ارزيابي دانشجو در آموزش پزشكي بر اساس مدل 8 مرحله‌اي تغيير شامل 1( ايجاد ضرورت 2( تشكيل يك ائتلاف قدرت‌مند 3( ايجاد يك چشم‌انداز براي تغيير 4( ارتباط برقرار كردن با چشم‌انداز 5( حذف موانع 6( ايجاد پيروزي‌هاي كوتاه مدت 7( پايه‌گذاري و ساخت تغيير 8( نهادينه كردن تغييرات رخ داده است. نتيجه‌گيري: در ايران مراحل 8 گانه تغيير و تحول آزمون‌هاي دبيرخانه شوراي آموزش پزشكي و تخصصي با دقت ويژه صورت گرفته است. با توجه به چالش‌هاي پيش روي هر تغيير و در راستاي مطلوب‌تر برگزار شدن اين فرآيند در سال‌هاي آتي، شناسايي مشكلات اجرايي موجود و مساعدت در رفع آن‌ها مي‌تواند گامي مؤثر و سازنده تلقي شود.

Introduction: In the era of increasing development of electronic technology, using technology and making favorable changes in student assessment have a prominent role. The purpose of this study was to review the evolution process of student assessment methods in medical education and report its process in Iran based on the 8-step model) In Line with the Package for Medical Sciences Assessment System and Tests Promotion). Methods: In this narrative review, databases of SID, Magiran, PubMed, Eric and Google Scholar were searched for articles published from 1950 onward in Persian and English using the keywords assessment, computerized test, evolution, change and medical education. Results: A total of 28 highly relevant articles were reviewed from 76 publications. Based on the 8-step model of change, the evolution process of student assessment has occurred as 1: creating necessity, 2: forming a powerful coalition, 3: creating a vision for change, 4: communicating with the vision, 5: removing the obstacles, 6: creating short-term achievements, 7: founding and building the change, 8: institutionalizing the change. Conclusion: The eight steps of change and evolution of Graduate and Medical Education Council tests have been administered with due precision in Iran. Given the challenges facing each change and in line with more favorable administration of this process in the coming years, identifying existing executive problems and contributing to resolve them would be an effective and constructive step forward.
