Explanation of the Objects of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq in Alliance with Turkey

دستاوردهاي سياسي و امنيتي در كنار رشد اقتصادي باعث شده است كه حكومت اقليم كردستان عراق بتواند به­عنوان الگويي موفق براي ديگر جنبش­هاي كرد در منطقه خاورميانه مطرح شود. حكومت اربيل براي حفظ جايگاه و هژموني خود بر منطقه شمال عراق رويكرد اتحاد با بازيگران منطقه­اي نظير تركيه را اتخاذ نموده است. در اين ميان سوالي كه مطرح است اين است كه حكومت اقليم كردستان عراق از طريق اتحاد با تركيه چه اهدافي را پي­گيري نموده است؟ با توجه به حصر ژئوپليتيك اقليم كردستان عراق به نظر مي­رسد هدف اصلي اربيل تامين بقاي دولت نيمه­مستقل اقليم كردستان عراق و كاهش مخالفت­هاي آنكارا با مسئله استقلال احتمالي آن بوده است. در كنار آن مي­توان به بهره­مندي از طرفيت­هاي اقتصادي و ارتباطي تركيه براي ايجاد صنعت نفت مستقل و مقابله با نفوذ فزاينده پ.ك.ك. در منطقه نيز اشاره نمود. مقاله حاضر به روش توصيفي و تحليلي و با استفاده از چارچوب نظري ژئوپليتيك دلايل حكومت اقليم كردستان عراق براي اتحاد با تركيه را مورد بررسي قرار داده است.

Following the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, the northern Kurdish region have been able to gain significant rights of autonomy. Political and security gains a long with economic growth have led that the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq can be posed as a model for other Kurdish movements in the Middle East region. the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq has adopted the approach of allying with regional actors such as Turkey to maintain its hegemony over the region of northern Iraq. The question is that what are the KRG’s objectives in the alliance with Turkey? regarding to the KRG’s geopolitical situation it seems that the survival of the KRG and reducing of Turkish opposition toward the KRG’s possible independence are the main goal of the semi-independent Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq. In addition it is possible for the KRG to benefit from Turkish economic and communication capacities to create an independent oil industry and to counter the growing influence of PKK in the region. this article has analyzed the reasons of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq for the alliance with Turkey using the geopolitical framework.
