تلاش روشنفكران ايراني براي هويت يابي و شناخت هويت ايراني در طول يك قرن و نيم اخير به ظاهر پراكنده و گاه متضاد يا در تناقض با هم قرار مي گيرند. اما واقعيت اين است كه روشنفكران جامعه ي ما، هر يك لايه اي از لايه هاي مختلف هويت ايراني را بازگو كرده اند. انقلاب مشروطه از جمله دوران هاي مهم تاريخ كشور ما به شمار مي رود كه طي آن روشنفكران مختلفي به دنبال يافتن راهكارهايي جهت پيشرفت و ترقي كشور و همچنين چاره جويي براي هويت يابي مردم ايران زمين بوده اند. از جمله اين روشنفكران حسين كاظم زاده ايرانشهر مي باشد كه تحت تاثير پيشرفت غرب، ادبيات روشنگري و آشفتگي اوضاع ايران دوره ي قاجار، به طرح پرسش و پژوهش از چرايي انحطاط ايران به ويژه در قياس با ايران دوران باستان پرداخت. در اين راستا، با استفاده از «رويكرد اسكينري» و روش «تحليل اسنادي» تلاش مي شود با مطالعه، برداشت و استنتاج از متون موجود، مساله ي هويت ملي و به ويژه نسبت مليت و دين در انديشه ي حسين كاظم زاده ايرانشهر مورد بررسي قرار گيرد. شيوه ي گردآوري مطالب و داده ها نيز كتابخانه اي (اسنادي) مي باشد.
