رمان تربيتي(Bildungstroman) ژانري از نگارش رمان است كه در آن رشد شخصيت اصلي از كودكي تا بزرگسالي به تصوير كشيده مي­شود و در انتهاي داستان،كودكِ ناپخته معمولاً به انساني دنيا ديده با جايگاه اجتماعي خوب تبديل مي­شود. از ويژگي­هاي بارز نوع كلاسيكِاين ژانر؛ روايت خطي، تصوير كردن فراز و نشيب­هاي زندگي شخصيِ كودكي كه با بقيه هم سن و سال­هاي خودش تفاوت دارد، تجربه­ي معمولاً دو گونه عشق: عشق سطحي و سپس عشق پايدار و واقعي و در ضمن، حضور يك راهنما در رمان است. در قرن بيستم، نوع روايت خطيِ اين ژانر، دستخوش تغيير شد و علاوه بر آن زنان و ديگر اقليت­هايِ نژادي، برداشت خاص خود را از اين ژانر ارائه كردند. در حال حاضر اين ژانر يكي از انواع روايت­هاي محبوب براي نويسندگان زن به شمار مي­رود و آنها نوع جديد و زنانه­اي از آن را استفاده مي­كنند. در اين نوع روايت، تفاوت­هاي زندگي و رشد زنانِ داستان­هاي تربيتي نسبت به مردان مشخص ميگردد و تفاوت ديد آنها نسبت به خانواده و«ديگري» مطرح مي­شود. يكي از تفاوت­هاي مطرح شده در اين مورد،« وفاداري زنان نسبت به يكديگر» است.

Bildungstroman, or coming-of-age novel, is a genre in which the life of a character is depicted from childhood to adulthood and in the end, the callow naïve child turns into an experienced mature person with a good social position. The important features of classical Bildungstroman are: chronological narration, depicting the ups and downs of a child’s personal life that has a special and unique personality in comparison to other children of his age, and experiencing two kinds of love; first a superficial one then an everlasting and real one. In the twentieth century the chronological narration of Bildungstroman novel underwent some changes; moreover, women as well as other racial minorities presented their own interpretations of it. Nowadays Bildungstroman is women’s favorite genre in writing novels and they create new feminine kinds of it. What can be seen in these feminine Bildungstromans, are the differences between women and men’s lives and the process of growing up and also their different perspectives toward family and “the other”.
