Need Assessment for Instalation of Wastewater Facilities in Rural Areas of Iran

Rural wastewater facility is one of the infrastructure installation in the village which plays a basic role in promotion the level of public health and environmental protection. Despite of well effort of Jahad Organization in providing water supply in rural areas of the country, there is no major action in providing wastewater facilities. The first aim of this study was to describe the present situation of collection, treatment and disposal of sewage in rural areas of the country. The information required for this part of research was obtained from Rural Water and Wastewater Company. It wat found only 55 villages in the country have facilities for collection and treatment of sewage. Although even in those villages due to improper design and operation most of them not efficient. The second part of the study was to select the criteria for classification and priority assessment of rural areas. The priority assessment has been done on the base of 11 criteria, and 300 villages were selected and primary survey already have been done for them.
