Al-Kuleyni and Narrations about the Prophet’s mistake

يكي از دقيق‌ترين و پرمناقشه‌ترين ابعاد عصمت پيامبر اكرم(ص) مسئلۀ عصمت ايشان از سهو و نسيان است. متكلمان اسلامي به دو دسته موافق و مخالف سهو پيامبر(ص) تقسيم شده‌اند و رساله-هاي زيادي را در اين باب نوشته و نيز بخش‌هاي مهمي از كتب اعتقادي خويش را به اين مسئله اختصاص داده‌اند. علت اين اختلاف آرا، وجود برخي آيات و رواياتي است كه بر صدور خطا و نسيان از پيامبر(ص) دلالت مي‌كنند. بخشي از اين روايات را ثقه الاسلام كليني در كتاب كافي آورده است كه مي‌توان آن‌ها را در سه دسته فهرست كرد: 1. خواب ماندن پيامبر(ص) از نماز صبح؛ 2. سهو ايشان در تعداد ركعات نماز؛ 3. نگاه سهوي ايشان به زن نامحرم. با توجه به اين روايات، كليني در زمرۀ قائلان به سهوالنبي است؛ البته تحليل ايشان از اين مسئله روشن نيست كه در مقاله حاضر، وجوه مختلف اين روايات مورد بحث و تحليل واقع شده است.

One of the most exact and controversial aspects of the infallibility of the Prophet of Islam might be his protection from error and forgetfulness. Muslim theologians are divided into two groups of proponents and opponents of the infallibility of the Prophet. Many treatises have been written about this topic and significant parts of religious books are related to it. This discrepancy is due to some verses and narrations about mistake and forgetfulness of the Prophet. Al-Kuleyni has mentioned some of these narrations in his book, Al-Kāfi. They can be classified into three groups: The Prophet’s remaining asleep at the time of Fajr prayer 2) His mistake about the units of his prayer and 3) His unintentional look at a strange woman. According to these narrations, Al-Kuleyni has not believed in the infallibility of the Prophet. However, his analysis about this topic is not clear. This study investigates different aspects of these narrations
