Marquis de Sade: scar over the face of enlightenment

در ميان نويسندگان و فيلسوفان عصر روشنگري همچون مونتسكيو، ديدرو، ولتر و روسو مي‌توان به نويسنده‌اي اشاره كرد كه در آثارش به وجوه ديگري از آرايِ اين فيلسوفان پرداخته است: ماركي دوساد. اما روشنگري با ساد برخوردي متفاوت داشت: او را موجودي خطرناك براي بشريت و آثارش را مخل نظم عمومي محسوب ميكرد. با اين همه، مي‌توان ادعا كرد كه مضمون اصلي آثار وي برداشتي افراطي از همان مفاهيم اصلي عصر روشنگري همچون آزادي، سلطه بر طبيعت، خودآييني، اخلاق و نقد كليسا بود. اين مقاله قصد دارد تا نشان دهد كه آثار ساد برآمده از همان عقلانيتي است كه روشنگران در پي بنياد نهادن آن بر تمامي اركانِ ساختار اجتماعي و سياسي بودند. ساد، با نشان دادنِ مطلق‌شدگيِ سلطه‌ي عقل مدرن،تصويري از انسانِ عصر روشنگري را ترسيم كرد و به همين دليل امروزه با بازخواني آثارش مي‌توان او را در زمره‌ي اولين منتقدان حقيقي روشنگري قرار داد. كسي كه با دفاع از مضامين آرماني روشنگري براي بشريت، با پيشروي به سرحدات آن، زوالِ تدريجي آن را در آثارش پيش‌بيني كرد.

Among philosophers such as Montesquieu, Diderot, Voltaire and Rousseau who were known as Lumières, there was another writer who focused on a different aspect of philosophical debates of enlightenment: Marquis de Sade. The Enlightenment, however, treated him differently in his lifetime regarding him as an enemy of the people, considering his work as a threat to common order of society. This article attempts to show that the Sade's works are extracted from the very rationality that the Lumières wanted to establish at all levels of social and political structure. Sade rather wanted to highlight the absolutism inherent in the authority of modern reason by drawing on the image of enlightened man. A rereading of Sade’s ideas proves him to be the one who foretold the imperceptible decadence of enlightenment and its souvenirs for humanity by defending the ideal resorts of enlightenment for humanity and at the same time trespassing its borderlines.
