هدف از اين پژوهش طراحي و تدوين استراتژي توسعه ورزش بومي – سنتي استان كرمان بود. روش پژوهش توصيفي واز نوع مطالعات موردي بود. جامعه آماري پژوهش در قسمت مصاحبه و شناسايي نقاط قوت، ضعف، و تهديدات و فرصت‌ها را خبرگان امر و در قسمت توزيع پرسش‌نامه، كليه ورزشكاران، خبرگان، داوران، مربيان، مديران و كارشناسان ورزش‌هاي بومي - سنتي استان كرمان تشكيل دادند كه در مجموع (1600 نفر) بودند و با توجه به مشخص بودن حجم جامعه آماري با استفاده از جدول كرجسي و مورگان نمونه آماري برابر با 210 نفر در نظر گرفته شد كه از اين تعداد 193 پرسش نامه استاندارد جمع آوري شد. براي تجزيه و تحليل داده از دو سطح آمار توصيفي و استنباطي و تجزيه و تحليل SWOT استفاده شد. با توجه به نمره نهايي ماتريس ارزيابي عوامل داخلي (2.807) و ماتريس ارزيابي عوامل خارجي (2.429)، مشخص شد كه جايگاه راهبردي ورزش بومي- سنتي كرمان در منطقه محافظه كارانه (WO) قرار دارد.
