Identification and description of some injurious Dipterous pests of button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) in Karaj

According to the studies carried out from July to December 2000, three species of Diptera that are known as button mushroom pests, were identified and described in Karaj mushroom houses. They consisted of Lycoriella auripila Winnertz (Sciaridae), Megaselia halterata Wood (Phoridae) and Coboldia fuscipes Meigen (Scatopsidae). The first two species namely L. auripila and M. halterata are reported for the first time from Iran and appear to be the most important pests of the button mushroom. The adults of L. auripila are distinguished by R1 vein that is half of the Rs vein in length and dististyli at the end of male abdomen. M. halterata is distinguished from the other species by face chaetotaxy, short anal tube, the existence of two long setae on the epanderium and costal vein (C) that is shorter than half of the wing length. The species C. fuscipes is characterized by their curved vein Cut, large spiracle sclerit and scieritical peduncle of seventh abdomen tergite in males. In this research, morphological characteristics of these three species were described.
