بررسي نظريۀ هنجارمنديِ منطق با تكيه بر انتقاداتِ هارمن و ارائۀ تبييني از اين نظريه

A study of the normativity of logic thesis on the basis of Harman's criticisms and proposing an explanation for the thesis

چنانكه اصول اخلاقي افعالِ ما را هنجارگذاري نموده، آنها را به درست (correct) و نادرست (incorrect) تقسيم مي‌نمايند، اصول و قوانينِ منطق نيز بر اساسِ نظريۀ هنجارمنديِ منطق (normativity of logic) تفكر و استدلالاتِ معمول در زبانِ روزمره را هنجارگذاري مي‌نمايند. صورت بندي‌هاي گوناگوني از اين نظريه در متون فلسفي وجود دارد كه محل بحث و منازعاتِ گسترده‌اي در متون فلسفي از چند دهۀ گذشته تا حال حاظر بوده‌اند. در مقاله پيش رو صورت بندي‌هاي مذكور را با تكيه بر انتقاداتِ مشهورِ گيلبرت هارمن عليهِ تز هنجارمندي منطق، به بحث و بررسي خواهيم گذاشت. راهبردِ كليِ هارمن براي نقدِ هنجارمنديِ منطق، تلاش برايِ توجيه اين مدعاست كه هيچ صورت بنديِ معقولي از هنجارمنديِ منطق نمي‌توان ارائه نمود. ما نيز پس از بررسي استدلالاتِ هارمن، استدلال خواهيم نمود كه مي‌توان صورت بندي قابل قبولي از اين تز ارائه داد به طوري كه نقدهايِ هارمن بر آن كارگر نيفتد. در گام آخر نيز تبييني از چرايي هنجارمنديِ منطق بر اساسِ معنا و مفهومِ باور ارائه خواهيم نمود. بدين منظور ابتدا نظريۀ مهمي در موردِ مفهومِ باور كه در متون فلسفي به نظريۀ هنجارمندي باور (normativity of belief) مشهور است را تشريح و سپس استدلال مي‌كنيم كه نظريه مذكور مستلزمِ هنجارمنديِ منطق است.

As moral principles constrain our actions normatively, distinguish them into correct and incorrect categories; according to normativity of logic thesis, logical principles constrain normatively our thinking and reasoning (e.g. see MacFarlane 2004; Steinberger 2017a, 2017b, 2017c). There are various formulations for the normativity in the literature which have been subject to sever debates in the last decades. In this paper I will consider such formulations on the basis of Harman's (1984, 1986) famous objections. Harman's strategy to criticize the normativity is try to justify the claim that there is no rational way to formulate the thesis. I will argue, however, that there is a plausible formulation for the normativity of logic thesis such that survives Harman's attacks. In the last step, I will explain the normativity of logic thesis, on the basis of the concept of belief. In order to do so, I will elucidate the normativity of belief thesis, and then argue that the thesis entails the normativity of logic thesis.
