در ميان محققان تاريخ صفوي، نام راجرسيوري نامي ديرين و آشنا است و اغلب در مباحث تاريخ صفويه از وي ياد شده است. پيشگامي او باعث شده تا مطالعات صفوي ، بخصوص در ايران تحت سيطره او در آيد و نويسندگان ايراني و مستشرقان در اين زمينه مكرر به او استناد جويند. در ذهن عده اي از محققان ، سيوري بعنوان يك محقق توانمند و صفويه شناس برجسته شناخته شده است و او حتي خود به يك مرجع تاريخ صفوي تبديل گرديده است.سيوري نيز با نوشتن آثار متعدد و مكرر چنين گماني را در باره خود القاء كرده است ود ر حاليكه بررسي دقيق و بي طرفانه نوشته هاي او، آن را اثبات نمي كند. مهمترين نوشته هاي او مأخوذ از كتاب تاريخ عالم آراي عباسي است كه با تحقيقات ديگري از معاصران تكميل شده است. اطلاعات و نظرات او از تاريخ صفويان يك سويه و متأثر از منابع رسمي صفويان وتوأم با اغراق ،تحسين وتمجيد است.اين نوشته بنا دارد تا پاره اي از سرچشمه هاي بينشي ونظرات كليشه اي سيوري را به بحث گذارد تا اثبات گردد نوشته هاي سيوري تكراري ، غير تحقيقي و بيشتر مأخوذ از منابع رسمي صفويان يا به عبارت بهتر رونويسي از آنهاست.
