The Role of Coal- Fired Power Plants in Electricity Generation

Energy demand is growing and over the last two years, the use of coal has grown faster than other fuel. The need for competitive electricity, resource preservation and environmental management are the important parameters which determine the future development of fossil fuel-fired, specially coal fired power plants. The average coal use for power generation is now about 39% and in some countries like Poland is around 95"/o. It seems the global demand for coal use energy will increase up to 43% on 2030. This means the coal share in world primary energy will remain about the same percentage in 2030 as it is now. The coal is going to have new rule in economy of Iran. The coals in Iran which generally were using for metallurgical purposes but after increasing of oil price, Iran is going to use steaming coal deposits as a new energy sources. The first Iranian coal power plant is going to be established in central Iran, at Tabas coalfield-Mazino deposit. This is the first step to use 7.8 bt steaming coal resources of Iran.
