The Role of Body Image in Explaining the Life Satisfaction, Life Expectancy, and Mental Health of People with Physical and Mobility Impairment

هدف با توجه به نقش تصوير بدني در كيفيت زندگي افراد، پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسي نقش تصوير بدني در تبيين رضايت از زندگي، اميد و سلامت رواني افراد با ناتواني هاي جسمي - حركتي انجام شد روش طرح پژوهش توصيفي از نوع همبستگي بود، جامع ه آماري شامل تمامي افراد با ناتواني هاي جسمي-حركتي شهرستان شاهرود در سال 1396 بود كه از بين آنها نمونه اي به حجم 111 نفر با استفاده از روش نمونه گيري در دسترس انتخاب شدند و پرسشنامه هاي چندبعدي رابطه خود و بدن، رضايت از زندگي (داينر، 1985)، اميد و سلامت عمومي را تكميل كردند يافته ها تحليل داده ها با استفاده از آزمون همبستگي پيرسون نشان داد تصوير بدني با رضايت از زندگي افراد ربطه مستقيمي دارد .p<0/01 همچنين بين تصوير بدني با اميد و سلامت رواني در اين افراد رابطه وجود دارد p<0/01 از طرف ديگر مشخص شد كه تصوير بدني مي تواند رضايت از زندگي را پيش بيني كند R به توان دو مساوي است با 0/21.و تصوير بدني پيش بيني كنند ه اميد R به توان دو مساوي است با 0/25 و سلامت رواني R به توان دو مساوي است با 0/19. نتيجه گيري بنابراين مي توانيم نتيجه بگيريم كه تصوير بدني كه افراد با ناتواني هاي جسمي-حركتي از خود دارند در پيش بيني متغيرهاي روان شناسي مثبت مثل اميد، رضايت مندي از زندگي، و سلامت روان نقشي اساسي دارد.

Objectives Considering the role of physical image in the quality of life, the present study aimed to investigate the role of body image in explaining the life satisfaction, life expectancy, and mental health of people with physical and mobility impairment. Method In this descriptive correlational study, the population comprised all individuals with physical and mobility impairment in Shahrood, Iran, in 2017. A sample of 111 individuals was selected using convenience sampling, and multidimensional questionnaires on the relationship with the body, satisfaction with life, life expectancy, and general health were administered. Results Correlation analysis showed that body image is directly related to the physical image of individuals with physical and mobility impairment (p≤0.01), and there is a relationship between physical image with life expectancy and mental health in these individuals (p≤0.01). Moreover, it was found that physical image can predict life satisfaction (R2=0.21), life expectancy (R2=0.25), and mental health (R2=0.19). Conclusion It can be concluded that the physical image of individuals with physical and mobility impairment plays a crucial role in predicting positive psychological variables such as life expectancy, life satisfaction, and mental health.
