Some biological and ecological peculiarities of the Great Bustard in Iran with emphasis on critically endangered situation of the species

ميش مرغ در مقياس جهاني آسيب‌پذير ولي در مقياس ملي گونه اي در خطر انقراض مي باشد. زيستگاه اين گونه به شدت تحت تاثير كشاورزي و تغييرات كاربري اراضي ميباشد. بايد به سرعت اقدامات حفاظتي مبتني بر مديريت پوياي زيستگاه و حفظ مناطقي وسيع از اراضي بدون كشت و كار پركار صورت پذيرد. پايين بودن شديد فراواني جمعيت، فعاليتهاي كشاورزي به ويژه در فصل جوجه آوري، تجمع طعمه خواران اهلي و وحشي در اثر عدم مديريت پسماندها، برداشت يا لمس تخم ها از مهمترين تهديدهاي پيش رو محسوب مي شوند. خريداري محصول سرپاي كشاورزان، تبارشناسي جهت تعيين نزديكترين جمعيت اهدا كنندهي تخم در خارج از ايران، مديريت پسماند، كنترل سگها، برقراري وضعيت فوق العاده و پايش فشرده در دورهي زادآوري، حلقه گذاري و رديابي ماهوارهاي جوجه ها پس از احياي جمعيت از مهمترين اقداماتي است براي نجات گونه از بحران انقراض توصيه ميگردد.

Great bustard as a globally threatened species faces extinction risk in Iran. Great Bustard’s habitat is strongly destructed by agricultural activities and land use change. Urgent integrated activities are obligatory to save it from extinction vortex. Great bustard faces with different levels of threats that put it at the extinction risk like very low abundance, agricultural activities especially in the breeding season, waste mismanagement which attract wild and domestic predators, collecting and even touching the eggs. Stopping farm crops’ harvest for three consecutive years, or to postpone harvesting time while keeping Great bustard strips, phylogenetic study to determine the closest donor population, waste management, predators controlling, species ringing and satellite tracking are some of the high priority activities should be considered.
