برزويه طبيب در مقدمه كتاب كليله و دمنه پاره اي از توصيه هاي اخلاقي را كه حاصل تجارب خود اوست، براي اطبا تشريح مي كند. توصيه به ارزش هاي اخلاقي نظير توجه به آخرت و خدمت به مردم، به جاي اهداف دنيوي، توجه به خود و احتراز از خودبيگانگي و آخرسر دعوت به قدر و منزلت ارزش هاي والاي طبابت. او فهم هر يك از توصيه هاي اخلاقي پيش گفته را با به كار بردن تشبيه تمثيل، آسان نموده است. اين مقاله با روش كتابخانه اي و به گونه تحليلي ضمن اشارتي كوتاه به مباحث ادبي، مباني فلسفي و اخلاقي تمثيلات مزبور را تبيين نموده و به اين نتيجه رسيده است كه برزويه در تبيين مطالب اخلاقي به مهمترين مباني فلسفي و اخلاقي، از جمله: تركيب انسان از روح و جسم، اصالت داشتن روح، كيفيت ارتباط اهداف مياني با هدف نهايي، ضرورت احتراز از خودبيگانگي، ضرورت خودشناسي، وجود و تعميم هستي و اعتبار ديگر منابع شناخت غير از حس و تجربه، اشراف كامل داشته است.
