ناسيوناليسم ازجمله مفاهيمي است كه به دنبال آشنايي با تمدن غرب در اوايل قرن نوزدهم، وارد ادبيات سياسي ايران و كشورهاي عربي شد و سبب ظهور شاعراني گرديد كه مهم ترين مضامين شعري آن ها، اشعار وطني و مهم ترين دغدغه شان، مبارزه با نيروهاي مستبد داخلي و خارجي بود كه استقلال و آزادي كشورشان را به مخاطره مي افكندند. اين پژوهش بر آن است تا با روش توصيفي- تحليلي، ضمن بررسي جلوه هاي گوناگون ناسيوناليسم ايراني و عربي در دوران نهضت عربي و مشروطه ايران در اشعار احمد شوقي و سيداشرف الدين حسيني، با يافتن نقاط تلاقي انديشه اين دو شاعر در عرصه ناسيوناليسم، از خلال اشعار و انديشه هاي آن ها به تطبيق اين رويكرد به مثابه يكي از رهيافت هاي فكري عصر حاضر بپردازد. درنهايت با بررسي تطبيقي اشعار اين دو شاعر اين نتايج به دست آمد كه ميهن دوستي و عشق به وطن از جلوه هاي بارز انديشه ناسيوناليستي آن هاست تا جايي كه بازتاب اين وطن دوستي در اشعار ايشان آن چنان گسترده است كه به عنصري سبك ساز و تعيين كننده در سطح محتوايي و زباني شعر هر دو شاعر تبديل شده است.
