يكي از اموري كه محتواي حق بر محيط زيست سالم را شكل مي دهد، حق همگان بر آموزش مسائل زيست محيطي است . از طرفي با توجه به فرهنگ غني اسلامي و تصريح اصل 50 قانون اساسي در حفاظت از محيط زيست به عنوان يك وظيفه عمومي كه همگاني بودن آن را در ضمير خود نهفته دارد و نيز اينكه آموزش يكي از مؤثرترين مؤلفه هاي تأثير گذار بر توسعه هر كشور است . در سطح بين المللي ، آموزش زيست محيطي در كنفرانس 1972 استكهلم اهميت زياد خود را بدست آورد آموزش زيست محيطي به دنبال تربيت شهرونداني است كه از محيط بيو فيزيكي و مسائل مربوط به آن مطلع بوده و مي تواند به حل آن ها كمك كرده و مشتاق كاركردن براي اجراي راه حل ها است . آموزش در تمامي سطوح و در همه اشكالش ، ابزاري حياتي براي حل مشكلات محلي و جهاني فرآوري توسعه پايدار به ويژه فقر ، تخريب محيط زيست ، تهديد صلح و امنيت ، توسعه روستايي و تغيير در الگوهاي توليد و مصرف به حساب مي آيد . ايجاد آگاهي در ميان توده هاي مردم باعث تغيير نگاه ايشان نسبت به محيط زيست و بهبود رابطه آنها با محيط زيست مي گردد. بي شك آشنا ساختن افراد در سطوح مختلف اجتماعي با اصول حفاظت از محيط زيست و ايجاد رغبت و انگيزه ها ي داوطلبانه براي حفاظت از آن مي تواند مسئله تخريب و آلودگي محيط زيست را يك بار و براي هميشه حل كند.
