Ammar Basri's Defenses of Christian Theology in Al-Borhan

عمار بصري نسطوري يكي از متكلمين برجسته مسيحي در دوره عباسيان و در حدود سال‌هاي 800 الي 850 ميلادي در بغداد و شهر بصره مي‌زيسته و براي تبليغ و ترويج مسيحيت نسطوري فعاليت مي‌كرده است. وي داراي دو اثر كلامي مهم است: يكي كتاب «البرهان علي سياقة التدبير الالهي» و ديگري كتاب «المسائل والأجوبة». وي در اين دو كتاب با تفكر فلسفي و فكر ديني به شرح و بسط انديشه‌هاي مسيحي مي‌پردازد و در اصل دفاعياتي را براي كلام مسيحيت فراهم آورده و پاسخ انتقادات مخالفان(به ‌ويژه متكلمان اسلامي) را مي‌دهد و در واقع با برهان و دلايل عقلي و نقلي در دفاع از باورها و اعتقادات مسيحيان مي‌كوشد. كتاب «البرهان» در اين خصوص به عنوان يكي از كهن‌ترين كتاب‌هاي دفاعيه مسيحيت شناخته شده و از اين حيث كم‌نظير است. وي در اين اثر كلامي به دوازده مبحث اصلي به‌ويژه موارد انتقادي(همچون تثليث، تجسّد، اتحاد، تحريف كتاب مقدس، به صليب كشيدن عيسي مسيح و قرباني) به طرح و بررسي و پاسخ شبهات مي‌پردازد.

Ammar Basri Nestori, one of the Christian prominent theologians during the Abbasid period, lived in Baghdad and Basra in 800 to 850 AD and worked to propagate Nestorian Christianity. He has two important theological works: one is the book Al-Borhan Ala Siyaghat Al-Tadbir Al-Elahi and the other is the book Al-Masael Val-Ajuba. In these two books, he describes Christian thought with philosophical thinking and religious thought. In essence, it provides defenses for the word of Christianity and responds to the criticisms of opponents (especially Islamic theologians), and in fact, it tries to defend Christian beliefs with rational and narrative arguments. Al-Burh@n book is known as one of the oldest Christian defense books in this regard and is unique in this respect. In this theological work, he deals with twelve main topics, especially critical ones (such as the Trinity, the Incarnation, the Unification, the distortion of the Bible, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and the sacrifice).
