Ticks transmit viral, rickettsial , bacterial and protozoal diseases. According to the report a total of 28 species of ticks are found in Iran. Due to the importance of ticks as vectors of diseases, the current study was performed during November 1998 to December 2000 to determine ticks species in Kashan. A descriptive study was conducted on 21 villages in mountain and desert regions that random samples were taken. Tick samples were isolated from domestic and wild animals. In this study out of 21 villages, a total of 1820 ticks were collected. A total of 6 species belong to families of Ixodidae and Argasidae. The tick species which were collected during this course of study are as follows: A :Family Ixodidae: Hyalomma asiaticum Schulz et Shlottke , 1929 (66.5%), Dermacentor marginatus Sulzer ,1775 (14.5%), Rhipicephalus sanguineus Latreille, 1806 (0.5%) Haemaphysalis sulcata Kanestrini & Fanzago ,1877(0.25%) B:Family Argasidae: Argas persicus Oken, 1818 (11 .8%),Ornithodoros lahuransis Neuman ,1908(6.5%) This study indicates that 6 ticks species accurs in Kashan central of Iran. These finding would be beneficial for practical use by administrators and executive managers.
