پهنه تاريخ اديان صحنه گفت‌وگوهاي مستمر عقل و دين است كه سابقه چهره جديد آن تحت عنوان «علم و دين» به اواسط قرون وسطي مي‌رسد. با توجه به تفاوت در روش، موضوع و غايت علم و دين، همواره اين سؤال بين فيلسوفان و متالهان مطرح بوده است كه چه نسبت و رابطه‌اي مي‌توان بين آن دو فرض كرد. اين پژوهش با روش توصيفي تحليلي در صدد تبيين رويكرد جامع قرآني در خصوص نسبت عقل و ايمان بر پايه اصل فطرت و سپس نوسازي مفهوم علم و دين در پرتو آن است. يافته‌هاي پژوهش نشان داد كه با توجه به فطري بودن دانش ديني در هر دو بعد طبيعي و الهي، كار دانشمند تجربي و نبي يك چيز است و آن تعيين دانش ديني فطري انسان در دو بعد طبيعي و الهي با روش مناسب خود: كه طبيعتاً مناسب‌ترين روش براي دانشمند تجربي در تعيين دانش ديني فطري طبيعي، مشاهده مستقيم حقايق طبيعت با ابزار حس و تجربه همراه با سنجش عقلي است و مناسب‌ترين روش براي نبي در تعيين دانش ديني فطري الهي، كشف حقايق وراي طبيعت در پرتو وحي همراه با سنجش عقلي است.
